Niftee 50ees with its unique spelling was started by Randy and Molly Shannon in 2004. Together with much support they host the biggest and best cruise night every Saturday evening from March to November starting at 6:00pm and ending at 10:00pm with weather permitting in Spring, Texas. This is not your typical hang out in the parking lot kind of event. It is a very thought out and well organized machine that is made possible with the help of many fellow hot rodding volunteers and of course the Kroger Shopping Center property management who allows the use of their parking lot as well as the support of all the local merchants.
All these folks are dedicated and passionate about this event and Randy has taken great steps to not only keep this event going but to protect participates and spectators alike and make it an enjoyable social event that is fun for the entire family. Unlike similar events in every city across the country the Shannon’s actually lease this property and have rules that must be abided by in order to continue to be successful. Local police are always on sight to keep everyone and everything secure and safe while the many volunteers communicate by two-way radio to help participates get parked and keep spectators safe and out of the way of the many cars coming and going.
An average Saturday can yield as many as 300- 400 cars where some times for special events or just an exceptional Saturday may draw as many as 500- 600 cars! Those are huge numbers for a local Saturday night meet and amazingly enough it is all pre-79 vehicles which include every muscle car imaginable, many exotics and special interest cars to all the traditional hot rods, customs, street rods and everything in between. There are plenty of restaurants all within walking distance for your food and drink needs and great music can be heard throughout the evening for your entertainment. This is truly a fun family gathering for likeminded enthusiasts who want to remember the “old days” and contribute a little to inspire others to keep this great pastime alive.
