On Sunday January 3, 2010 the Corvettes on the Gulf held their 7th annual car/truck/& motorcycle show to benefit The Barbara’s Friends Charity. The event was held at a new location Geo’s Italian Restaurant at the Shops at Cape Crossing off Pine Island Rd. in Cape Coral, Florida. The show was put on by Premium Car Shows and offered 134 total awards. Registration started at 9 a.m. and the awards were to be presented at around 3 p.m., which was going to be a long day since the temperatures were around 47-50 degrees when I arrived and not going much higher this day. The show was limited to the first 300 vehicles entered but since Geo’s is the only establishment up and running in this newer mall they could have had twice that many cars in attendance. Because of the northern type colder weather I thought the about 200 cars that did show was admirable. They had the normal 50/50 drawing, 1st & 2nd place awards in each class and dash plaques to the first 100 to send in the pre entry fee of $20.00 as it was $25.00 day of the show. I arrived about 11 a.m. to take pictures of all the cars in attendance and after almost freezing, the wife and I headed into Geo’s for lunch for a fine Italian dinner and to try and warm up a little before departing at around 1 p.m. I feel real sorry for those that arrived at 9 a.m. and had to endure temperatures in the low fifties until award time at around 3 p.m., I’m sure that a lot of people left early as this didn’t seem at all like a normal winter day in southern Florida.
