If you live in Florida, the chances are good that you already know all about Slamfest. It is the Fall show that drivers in the Southeast put on their calendars a year in advance. More than 800 vehicles were on display this year at the annual automotive fun fest at the Florida State Fairgrounds near Tampa. Each October, the show attracts a huge collection of cars, trucks, vendors, food, entertainment, and camaraderie. The Mini Madness club members work hard on Saturday judging all the entries but Sunday was a fun day with the morning Burnout Competition, the Bikini Contest, and the afternoon Awards Ceremony that sent 128 drivers home with trophies. Several more left with cash in their pockets for the ‘Best Of’ Awards. As has been their tradition since their first show almost two decades ago, Mini Madness club members share a portion of the profits with local charities. And they always send a special thanks to their supportive sponsors who help to make the event the success that it is: Reds Miami, Diesel Wheels, Lowrider Depot, Enhanced Concepts, Horn Blasters, and Scrape-N-Customs. The event is relocating to Gainesville, Florida in 2010 so check the www.minimadness.com web site for directions and details.
