2012 Georigia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-in #5
Description

Do you know how to have 3 days of automotive fun that draws over 500 cars & trucks annually and does not take place near or around a big city? Flip Flop Promotions figured that out years ago when they held the first Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In at Hiawassee, Georgia. The city of Hiawassee is nestled in the mountains of northeast Georgia and is one of the most beautiful areas for cruising in a hot rod or classic vehicle. To handle a show that draws a large number of vehicles you have to have a big enough location to handle them and the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds is up to the challenge.

The 5th Annual Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In kicked off on Thursday with early registration and an organized cruise that started off at the Ridges Resort in Hiawassee. The 60 mile cruise included scenic State Highway 75 that leads into Helen, Georgia where there was a designated area for the cruisers to park their cars & trucks. Helen closely resembles a small Bavarian town with quaint shops and restaurants lining the street that offered some really good German cuisine. The first day wrapped up with a Haulin Mash kick off party with live entertainment at the Ridges Resort.

Friday morning the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds gates were opened up for participants to start looking for their favorite parking spot. With acres of shaded, sunny or even covered parking, there is no such a thing as a bad spot on these grounds. Participants and spectators had loads of vehicles to look at and plenty of vendors to shop with. Special guests at the 2013 event were the guys from the Speed Channel TV series RU Faster Than A Redneck. Friday evening activities moved off the grounds for a parade from downtown Hiawassee that ended up at the Lake Chatuge Lodge for the Boot Leg Boogie party.

Saturday the weather turned a little wet but that didn’t slow down the participants or spectators that came out for the show. Before the day was over, the sun came out and it was another great day on the fairgrounds. The show wrapped up in the afternoon with a ceremony that included awards, cash giveaways and prize giveaways.

2013’s event drew over 500 vehicles from all over the United States and Canada, were you one of them? If not, mark your calendar now for August 7-9, 2014 to be in Hiawassee, Georgia for the 6th Annual Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In. Thanks go out to Robert & Lisa Parrish, the staff of Flip Flop Promotions, Hiawassee Holiday Inn Express and the city of Hiawassee for making me, my wife Barbara and Cruisin Style Magazine feel right at home once again.
