25th Annual Daytona Spring Turkey Run - A Florida Favorite for 25 Years!

If you are fortunate enough to live in Florida – the land of perpetual sunshine and multiple car shows every weekend – you know that the delightful lack of snowstorms and icy roads mean you never have to garage your car for the winter.  You also probably know all about the Spring and Fall events held at the Daytona International Speedway.  (Actually, everybody in the Sunshine State does!)  If you are not part of this fortunate few however, redirecting your vacation plans could hold a special treat, guaranteed to please any auto enthusiast.  The legendary Fall Turkey Run, now in its 40th year, is the largest car show and swap meet in the state, held during the four-day Thanksgiving weekend.  Following a similar format, the re named Spring Turkey Run occurs around the last weekend in March.  Both events should be on every driver’s calendar simply because they offer everything you’re looking for in automotive entertainment and then some.  Both events attract a huge collection of vehicles, displayed on the Speedway infield.  From restored originals to radical customs, you’ll discover something new at every turn.  Both shows also boast an amazing array of vendors selling every imaginable accessory for your ride, along with food vendors to ensure your energy levels remain high.  Finally, both shows feature extensive Car Corrals where vehicles of every make and model go home with new owners.

This year’s Spring show added to the fun with Iron Man and his custom motorcycle along with Batman and his Batmobile, Bat cycle, Bat helicopter, and Bat funny car. The Art and Fashion Bazaar had crafts, jewelry, and fashion items for the ladies. But the opportunity that almost every registered participant said was worth the price of admission was the pace lap on the speedway.  Although drivers were definitely not

circling at NASCAR levels, the slow speed cruise was great fun and photographers were on hand to capture the moment you crossed the finish line. If you’d like more information on either of these Florida favorites, go to www.daytonabeachcarshows.com
