7th Annual Return to the 50s

A person would be hard pressed to find a better location or time of the year to hold a car show than this annual October event in Natchitoches (pronounced Nack-a-tish), Louisiana. This great show is hosted by the Natchitoches Historic District Business Association, and they have a perfect venue for the show in the 33 block Landmark Historic District of a city that traces its roots back to 1714.

The show kicked off at noon on Friday with not one but two poker runs; one route was in town while the other was a scenic drive out to beautiful Cane River Lake. The payout for each of these poker runs was $500! Friday’s activities wrapped up along the beautiful downtown riverbank with a free fish fry and live entertainment for all registered participants.

Saturday morning saw Historic Front Street blocked off and ready for a full day of automotive fun. Before the sun peaked over the trees lining the river there was a line of cars and trucks steadily rolling in. Before morning was over the Historic Downtown area was packed with several hundred cars and trucks from all over Louisiana and Texas. The reputation of this show being well organized, having a great venue, plenty of awards and activities keeps the registration numbers growing each year. With all of the restaurants and shops open for business plus all of the vehicles to look at, there was no time for anyone to say there was nothing to do. The day passed by quick and the show wrapped up with a drive of all of the award winners, and believe me, that was quite a drive through (hopefully one of the lineup photos makes it with this article to give you an idea of how many vehicles took awards).

Thanks go out to the City of Natchitoches and the Natchitoches Historic District Business Association for allowing me, my wife Barbara, and Cruisin’ Style Magazine to be a part of this event. Be sure and mark your calendar for October 3-4, 2014 for the 8th Annual Return to the 50’s Car Show. For more info call 855-342-7469 or visit www.natchitochescarshow.com
