Billetproof Texas #2

Billetproof Texas #2 Article and photos by: Allen Smith

Billetproof is now in its second year in Texas at the Fireman’s Park in Giddings. Although the event moved from July to June this year it was still mighty hot in the Lone Star state. Billetproof was also a two day event this year with a swap meet on Sunday only. These changes may help to improve the show as it continues to grow.

This show may not be as big as other events in Texas yet….. but it doze bring together a good variety of cars from traditional style hot rods to the long and lean customs as well as some long lost nostalgia dragsters. Sure there is lots of other stuff to see too and a few vendors hawking all the latest kustom kulture trinkets but all in all a good show.

The burnout contest proved to be the crowd pleaser and the Texas Timing Association was back again to do their cacklefest with a handful of nostalgia dragsters. Musical entertainment was provided by Combo Mahalo from Austin, Texas with their traditional style Hapa Haole Hawaiian swing and Honky also from Austin with their unique blend of Texas boogie. Like last year all proceeds from beer sales went directly to the Giddings Volunteer Fire Department.

Texas always has room for another car show so y’all come on out and cruise along the bluebonnet trail and support Billetproof Texas!
