Cars & Coffee Car Show

Cars & Coffee Car Show

January 28 is not a date that excites many car collectors in Wisconsin. That’s about the time that Cabin Fever is really setting in because there are no car events to visit. Gateway Classic Cars ( did its part to change this by opening up a giant collector car store in Kenosha, WI.

Housed in an industrial park, the new showroom can accommodate 100-110 vehicles in a climate-controlled environment. It’s like an indoor car show and enthusiasts from surrounding areas (Milwaukee to Burlington to Chicago) can check out the vehicles during the “Cars & Coffee” gatherings that Gateway puts on in Kenosh sa the last Saturday of every month.

Gateway is a $50 million business with car stores in 14 locations across the United States. They are Milwaukee (Kenosha), Wis.; Atlanta, Ga.; Tampa, Fla.; St. Louis, Mo.; Louisville, Ken.; Chicago, Ill.;  Indianapolis, Ind.; Detroit, Mich.; Nashville, Tenn.; Houston, Tex; Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Dallas, Tex., Orlando, Fla. and Philadelphia, Pa. Two more will open later in 2017.

About 100-150 car guys and car gals came to the free January 28 Cars & Coffee. They also enjoyed free coffee and doughnuts, plus a chance to check out the inventory in the 40,000 sq. ft. building. All of the cars were consignment vehicles from private owners hoping to sell them. Cruisin’ Style actually ran into two men there who had sold their cars and both of them were very happy.

The cars on display were in very nice condition, since Gateway Classics is fussy about accepting vehicles. Cars with rust issues or project cars do not meet the company’s guidelines. All of the cars that had been inspected for sale had nice write-ups on their windshields and the asking price for each car or truck was clearly stated on the window signs. All cars also had the state required form that documents the condition of each car and gives information about them.

At least 100 to 150 people came and went during the three-hour Cars & Coffee period, so we’re guessing the total count was between 100 and 200 people. The cars were certainly getting a lot of attention that Saturday morning.
