Cruisin' Nocona

One might be surprised to hear that Nocona, Texas is the classic car capital of Texas. However it is also home to the Horton classic car collection which is housed in four themed museums and is the host to the 1st Annual Cruisin’ Nocona.

Look for car shows to transition to different formats for their events in the near future. Many car enthusiasts today are not content just sitting around in a lawn chair all day, after all it is about the cars and the owners want to enjoy them. A few events have already begun to make changes and Cruisin’ Nocona started out on the right foot with their show. The event is a fun filled weekend that gets car enthusiast involved. Participants have the opportunity to motor through the scenic Texas Hill Country on Friday and return to historic downtown Nocona for a car show. There are plenty of great stores to visit as well as other interesting things, like the factory where they still make baseball gloves, the trails and tails museum and much more.

All in all Cruisin’ Nocona is the perfect place for all car enthusiasts and Nocona, Texas is an excellent backdrop for such a great event. Plan to attend next year I promise you will not be disappointed.

The Vicari auction takes place on Saturday and once again Main Street is lined with cars. The wonderful smell of food cooking fills the air and vendors are everywhere. The excitement of the auction is electric and there were some great deals to be had. The 1961 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud was one of my favorites as were the Corvettes. There were some really rare cars going across the auction block such as a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr and a 1965 Amphicar. The variety of vehicles for sale was vast and if you were in the market to add to your stable this was the place to be.
