Show promoters have a tough job. They can do everything right, beginning with advance publicity, choosing the best venue, creating the awards, and finally welcoming the expected crowd of enthusiasts. Unfortunately, there is one element they can’t control and Mother Nature always lets everyone know who is really in charge! This year’s Saturday Mustang and Ford Roundup began cold and wet, something that might have discouraged a less hardy group. Overnight rain and temperatures on the show day in the upper 50s (chilly for central Florida in January) set the tone but the rain stopped early and the weather warmed by midmorning.

Fortunately, the owners of the hundreds of Ford-powered vehicles took it in stride, arriving at Florida’s Nature Park -- Silver Springs, to experience this family-friendly, Blue Oval event. Home to the world-famous Glass-Bottom Boats, Silver Springs is always a great location but the event format also added to the fun. The rules were simple. No judges, no tech, and leave your top and windows up! Spend the day relaxing in a lush garden setting and visit with fellow hobbyists and friends.

Event sponsors, National Parts Depot, along with numerous other vendors were on hand showcasing the latest products while ‘Fastback 65’ serenaded the crowd with great music throughout the day. People’s Choice judging simplified the awards process but everyone enjoyed the company of like-minded friends, whether they took home an award or not.
