Mopar of the Month

For those of you who know Lance and I well, it’s no surprise to hear that after less than 1 1/2 years, we traded in our Detonator Yellow 2010 Challenger for a Green with Envy 2011 SRT Challenger. Of course the color wasn’t the only at-traction. The increase from 5.7 to 6.4L engine, 470HP, Brembo brakes, and better suspension played a big role in our decision. Actually, “my” decision (it is my car). We test drove the car in the end of June then truth be told, we bought the shaker hood at the “Chryslers at Carlisle PA” car show in July first, then came home to buy the car. We were the first customers of Cervini’s who had bought a hood before buying the car (something we really shouldn’t be bragging about). It took from July till December for us to receive the shaker hood. Between July and December, here’s all the changes we’ve done to the car:

1. Installed a Corsa Extreme Exhaust (so our neighbors can hear us come home at night) [Done by University Dodge)

2. Installed Speedlogix front strut brace and rear shock tower brace (yes, this makes a big difference in handling) [Done by University Dodge]

3. Installed a Cervini’s shaker hood with a black shaker (major WOW factor)                                             [Done by Pro-Quality in Dania]

4. Painted the inside bezels green to match the car [Done by Pro-Quality]

5. Painted the rear spoiler black          [Done by Pro-Quality]

6. Removed the stripes across the front, top, back

7. Installed a short throw shifter         [Done by University Dodge]

As always, University Dodge played a huge role in all these changes. They really know how to take care of their custom-ers and when you have an idea to do something that they know you won’t be happy with in the end, they give you sound advice.

Before putting on the shaker hood, my car got loads of attention coming into parking lots and at stoplights. With the shaker hood, HOLY COW! I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen people pull out their cell phone to photograph the car while at a stop light or in a parking lot. Old people, young people, girls, guys, you name it, everyone loves it. And the view of the bubble from the inside of the car is just as cool.

We are so happy with our new Challenger. And every time we travel and rent a car, we always rent a Dodge Charger and love it too. Chrysler Corporation has done such a great job producing & de-signing high performance vehicles that are not only reliable but also extremely fun to drive. Now if we only had more garage space!
