2nd Annual Summit Racing Equipment ATLANTA MOTORAMA

“Anything with a motor.” That’s the aphorism attached to the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama presented by Classic Collectors Insurance, zMax Micro-lubricant and the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and the second annual edition of the massive festival, held at the world-renowned Atlanta Motor Speedway, didn’t disappoint.

In April 2015, in just its second year, the Atlanta Motorama experienced an immediate growth spurt, boosting its participant numbers by more than 30 percent over its debut event the year prior. On top of the abrupt rise in participants and entrants, the footprint of the event on the AMS infield swelled with added attractions and features.

In unison, classic and custom cars lined the show by the hundreds, vendors overflowed from their designated garage space, wrenches and sockets flew as Future Hot Rodders of tomorrow broke down and reassembled engines, and thousands of car parts, keepsakes and souvenirs traded hands at the giant Pull-A-Part Swap Meet. In the Extreme Motorsports Park, all 12 BIGFOOT® monster trucks gathered in one place for the first time ever, as car-crushing exhibitions drew roars of approval from spectators.

Lawn mower racing, Autocross sponsored by AARP, live music on two stages and even the Motorama Bikefest presented American Biker Lawyer all combined to set the scene for the two-day event, known as Georgia’s Motoring Festival, to become perhaps the largest event of its kind in the South, limited not by the boundaries of its host state.

In all, there were more than 200 awards handed out at the show, from Classic Chevy to Cool Custom and from Street Scraper to Vintage Trailer. In addition, nearly $20,000 in cash and prizes was awarded to show participants.

All weekend long, words like “Bigger” and “Better” were used to describe the show. And as impressive the growth of the show just two years in, the festival that isn’t just another car show continues on its upward trend.

Registration is open for the 2016 event, slated for April 16-17, and entries are already pouring in for what’s projected to yet again eclipse the size and breadth of its preceding edition.

Already, new and exciting attractions have been added to the list. No doubt families, gearheads and car enthusiasts alike will again gather for the celebration of anything with a motor come springtime.
