Shades Of The Past Hot Rod Roundup XXXI
Description

The foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains echoed with the sounds of dual exhausts and the rumble of high performance engines as the weekend approached for the Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup #31 in September 2013. Over 2,800 rods, customs and classics produced before 1973 converged on the beautiful Pigeon Forge, TN area to be a part of this annual automotive event.

The Hot Rod Roundup was once again held at the scenic and spacious parking area for Dollywood’s Splash Country. This site was more than large enough all of the registered vehicles, the huge vendor area and the ever growing swap meet area. There are many reasons that this show continually draws huge numbers of participants including the #1 giveaway prize of a 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster built by Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop or the #2 prize of $10,000! The other draws include the competition for some of the highly sought after awards that are given out to some of the best built vehicles in the United States. Of course spectators and participants alike love shopping in the vendor area that brings in top name suppliers and manufacturers from around the country. With the event starting on Friday and wrapping up on Saturday it is a testament to the hard work of the Shades of the Past club members that so much is accomplished in such a short period of time.

The best of show winner for 2013 was Alan Beers 1957 Chevrolet truck. The winner of the ’32 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster built by Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop was David Mayeux of Ponchatoula, LA. The winner of the $10,000 was Jeff Hatton of Thompson Station, TN. For photos and names of all of the award winners be sure to visit www.shadesofthepast.com

My thanks go out to Shades of the Past for allowing myself and Cruisin’ Style Magazine to be part of this awesome event once again and we look forward to being there again in September 2014. Mark your calendars and make plans to be in Pigeon Forge, TN September 5-6, 2014 for Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup #32 at Dollywood’s Splash Country.
