The 10th Anniversary Cars on Fifth Show
Description

The wife & I started out at about 7:30am & headed south to downtown Naples Florida for the annual Ferrari Club car show, the show actually starts at 10am & goes to 3pm, but it takes a good hour drive from Cape Coral to Naples. Getting there early was a wise decision as finding a parking space in one of the downtown garages was still easy at 8:30am & taking pictures was also nice as once the crowds get there you can’t get near the cars to take pictures.  By 11:30am I was ready to head home as the crowd kept doubling at each 15 minute increment of time & it really, really became hard to take any pictures of cars. I even wish we had not taken the time to have breakfast in down town Naples, as by the time we finished the amount of people now in attendance made picture taking an almost impossible task. I did take over 500 pictures because of my early arrival time & have included some of the better ones in this article for you to enjoy, this is defiantly a car show you should put on your bucket list of a car show to attend at least once, but make sure you get there early.

On this Saturday February 15th, 2014, The Naples Chapter of the Ferrari Club of America had their 10th Annual ‘Cars on 5th’ show. This show which is held each year on Fifth Avenue South, & now in the tenth year as an annual show, was better than ever. The Ferrari Club of America is the largest Ferrari club in the world with over 5,000 members that benefit from all its activities, events and enthusiast camaraderie & this annual car show. www.ferrariclubofamerica.org

The 2013 show broke all previous year’s attendance records, and with over 470 private entries and dealer cars the displays on the streets of Naples were outstanding. Rarely can such a superb collection of exotics and collector cars be found all in one location, and there were plenty of enthusiasts on hand to enjoy the show. The attendance estimates numbered nearly 40,000 & seems to grow even larger each year, but there was a lot to see and enjoy in the lovely Naples weather & on this 2014 Saturday the temperature was right around 75 degrees.

The ‘Cars on 5th’ show is also about helping the community and giving to those in need. Donations from the attendees and individual contributions to their featured charity & have risen well over $300,000 over the past nine years from this annual car show alone. The 2014 10th Annual Cars on 5th will again benefit their featured charity, the Special Needs Children’s Fund of Collier County, which helps families cope with children suffering from Autism. The fund assists with medical needs and procedures, summer camps for the kids and in many other ways to support the parents and children that are affected by Autism.

The list of sponsors again this year included Ferrari of Tampa Bay, Naples Bentley-Porsche, Naples Motorsports, Blackhorse Motors, Gulf Coast Motor Works and more. These dealers once again brought a fine selection of exotic and classic cars, adding to the hundreds of enthusiast-owned entries that filled Fifth Avenue on February 15th.

Over 100 Ferraris were on display with a fine mix of vintage and current V-8s and V-12s that pleased the huge crowds. The British contingent included Jaguar, Lotus, Triumph and the stately Bentleys. Porsches were plentiful including some rare race cars. American cars were not being overshadowed, with many Corvettes present. Muscle cars were also strongly represented along with the Hot Rods, Cruisers and Classics. ‘Cars on 5th’ is truly a show that has something for everyone. The show was bigger than ever with a multitude of local businesses in attendance. Artists, jewelers, and automotive services, and accessory suppliers were on hand to serve the thousands of potential clients at this show. To conclude the show all car owners start their cars at 3 PM sharp for a resounding Drive-Off by the over 400 plus cars in attendance. It was a fitting send off for what was another successful ‘Cars on 5th’ held in Naples Florida.  See you next year but remember come early.
