The 24th Annual Brits on the Bay Car Show

The 24th Annual Brits on the Bay Car Show

On Saturday April 16 I attended the PBCA annual car show with my cousins who I’m visiting for the week, staying at their Pensacola Beach house.  I was really surprised when both Al and Annette said they would like to go see the cars with me.  I always like having someone interested in cars to tag along.  Now it’s time to get down to business and take pictures of all the cars in attendance. They had about 125 cars in attendance at this year’s show.  They had 7 Sunbeam Tigers all lined up, the most I have ever seen at any show.  After reading their owner cards I saw 5 Tigers were all owned by David C. Hambrick of Pensacola Florida.  Duke W. Samouce of Enterprise Alabama and Jim O’Biren of Fairhope Alabama owned the other 2 Tigers. Next year will be their 25th year and they are hoping for 150 cars plus. My cousin Annette really liked Bill Silhan’s 1949 Triumph 2000 and I told her more than once it was not for sale.  All in all we had a great time seeing all the cars in attendance.

THE PANHANDLE BRITISH CAR ASSOCIATION presented their 24th Pensacola British Car Show on April 15-16th, 2016, it was held at the park bordered by 9th Ave, E.Salamanca St and E.Colfax, just three blocks off Bayfront Parkway in Pensacola, near the “Wall South” Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, and only a few feet from the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a lovely vacation, weekend paradise only walking distance to restaurants and shopping in the historic downtown Pensacola area. (This is the same location since 2008.)

Participants Choice Award” and Class Awards were determined by the votes of registered show participants. The “Best of Show Award” was a Judged Award. Each vehicle entered received a ballot and dash plaque placed in the car at noon. Voting closed at 2:00 pm and awards were at 3:30pm. There are approximately 26 classes as determined by pre-registration numbers and each class was awarded a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophy as applicable. There were several special awards and some surprise awards. This was not a “Concours” show, but a chance for British car lovers to get together, display their cars and have a good time. Any car can go home with a trophy. Bringing your British “ride” this year as in all the past years, and mainly to enjoy all the camaraderie.
