The Annual Deep South Cobra Club Reptile Roundup

On Thursday evening November 4th at the Palm Beach Gardens Embassy Suites host hotel, in their covered parking garage we held our Meet and Greet Party sponsored by Backdraft Racing Cobras http://www.backdraftracing.com/  from 6:00 to 9:00pm, with all the pizza and drinks anyone could consume.  We defiantly needed the covered area as we were having an all day rain fall and cold front coming into Florida.  Someone must have heard we were having a Cobra outing. http://deepsouthcobraclub.cloverpad.org/

On Friday November 5th everyone went to Palm Beach International Raceway (Formerly Moroso Motorsports Park).  The racers raced and the others hung out for a car show, lunch and best of all the camaraderie of meeting with old and making many new cobra owner friends.  We even had Joe Stone a Texan who drove his Factory Five Racing cobra all the way in from his home state of Texas to join in the fun, arriving around 5pm on Friday and just in time for dinner.  After observing Joe’s Texas license plate which reads (CRAZZY), I knew exactly why Joe drove over 1,300 miles to join us at Reptile Roundup.  Later we headed out to the Jupiter Civic Center for a catered dinner in Calin Park from 6:30 to 10:00pm, which was located right on the Atlantic beach.

On Saturday November 6th at 8:00am we headed out on a cruise to view Solomon’s Castle and have lunch in their newly built auxiliary restaurant next to their Boat in the Moat restaurant.  http://solomonscastle.org/ We then headed back to the host hotel so we could caravan to the local Carrabba’s restaurant for dinner.

On Sunday November 7th we headed out to John Staluppi’s Cars of Dreams auto museum http://carsofdreams.com/about.html and the 6th annual Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Classic Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show which was held out in front in the museums parking lot.  For a pre-registration fee of $30 you received 2 tickets to the museum and a car show t-shirt.  John only opens his museum a couple of times a year to the public and only for charity events so it was really nice to be able to join in for this PAL event.  After lunch I headed back home with my friend Jim Milliken as we still had a long journey back to the west coast of Florida in our cobras.        Article and photos by Dan Wulff
