The Strawberry Festival
Description

W

hen leaving the house at 8 a.m. with the temperature only at 52 degrees the convertible top was up as the wife and I headed for the Strawberry Festival car show at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church located at 2951 Trail Dairy Circle North Fort Myers from 9am -3pm.  On the way home and an additional 20 degrees the ride was great with the top down.  The church had coffee and a strawberry glazed or strawberry filled donut for $1.00 for a promised breakfast from the husbands to all the wife’s who come along to the show.  Inside the church they had a bazaar and craft show, and a bake sale to keep the wives happy.  On their menu besides the coffee and donuts they had Angel Cakes (Strawberry Shortcake), Heavenly Burgers, and Holy Hot Dogs and free popcorn.

To keep you out of the sun they had covered areas set up for eating with tables and chairs and another covered area to view the bands which included The Entertainers and It Takes Two.  The car show was free and put on by the local car club The Hot Chili Rods. There were a lot of nice classic rides but the one that really stood out was a ‘49 Buick Fireball owned by Phyllis & Norm Moore.  The pictures of this car will tell you far more than words and I have included the many I took with this story.
